Assessment in Welsh will not be available for these qualifications (H014, H414).
Inspiring a love of geology for lifelong learning – we have retained the most popular topics and developed real-life geology contexts relevant to a student’s own learning of the subject.
Accessible to all students – assuming no previous experience our AS and A Level Geology develops concepts and ideas from the new science GCSEs in the context of Earth science.
Clear and straightforward course structure – content is laid out clearly in a series of teaching modules with additional guidance added where required to clarify assessment requirements.
AS Level course content-led approach and flexible teaching – redesigned to give students a toolkit of geological skills which are developed in familiar content-led course. The AS Level is now a standalone qualification, and the content remains co-teachable with the A Level qualification.
A Level only course relevant and contemporary – in evolving the new specifications, we’ve liaised with teachers and students; ideas are introduced within relevant and contemporary settings that help students to anchor their conceptual knowledge of the range of geological topics required at A Level.
Hands-on geology and fieldwork – clearly identifies practical endorsement requirements and how these can be integrated into teaching of content. The course has been designed to strengthen the application of geological, scientific and fieldwork skills to delve more deeply into content.
Support and guidance – The Geology Subject Specialist is a member of the OCR Science team, we have a love of our subjects that we want to instil into a new generation. Extensive support to include transition guides, delivery guides, lesson elements and assessment preparation.
