GCSE AS and A Level Design and Technology

Design and Technology
Following the first series of the reformed AS qualification, the ‘Candidate record form’ has now been uploaded to the qualification pages, ready for use later on this academic year. This form is required when submitting the non-examination assessment (NEA) for all of the reformed Design and Technology qualifications. The form can be found in the 'Assessment' section of the qualification pages, under 'Forms'.
The form, along with the ‘Candidate declaration form’, must be submitted with a centre's sample for moderation, and we recommend having a look at them both as soon as possible. One particularly important point is the need to identify the specific location of the evidence being assessed. With this in mind, amendments have been made to all of the specifications.
The updated specifications can be found on the relevant qualification pages. Changes have been made to pages 31, 34 and 46 of the GCSE specification, pages 57, 58, 61 and 74 of the AS specification and pages 67, 70 and 83 of the A Level specification. All amendments are to tighten up and clarify the administrative requirements when assessing and submitting candidates’ work.
Following feedback from the first AS Level series we have reduced the amount of paperwork and simplified submissions by removing the ‘Centre recording sheet’. To reflect this, we have removed references to the recording sheet from all three specifications.
We hope you find these clarifications helpful. If you have any queries about this notice, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 01223 553998 or email general.qualifications@ocr.org.uk.
