Entry Level Science R483: summer 2021 arrangements update
22 February 2021
In November 2020, we informed you that there would be adaptations to some of our Entry Level qualifications for 2020/2021 for those students certificating in summer 2021. In December, we provided further details on those changes.
We are now waiting for decisions from Ofqual and the DfE on their consultation on the arrangements for summer 2021. Once we know more on the decisions, we will update you as soon as possible. The outcome of this consultation may mean we'll need to make further changes to our arrangements.
In the meantime, we would like to highlight an update to our Entry Level Science (R483) assessment arrangements for summer 2021.
Tests and tasks
Our new teacher guidance details how Entry Level Science students, certificating in summer 2021, can still continue to earn points (converted from marks) for the practical tasks, end-of-item tests and can-do tasks.
You can download the guidance from the Planning and Teaching > Practical activities section of the Entry Level Science qualification page.
From this qualification page, you can also download the six alternative practical tasks and questions which you may find helpful.
Recording results
To record student results (points), please use the new Candidate Record Card for 2021 which you can download from the Assessment > Forms section of the Entry Level Science qualification page. You can choose an interactive or non-interactive version of the candidate record card for 2021. The interactive version will automatically select the best 24 end-of-item tests to be used toward the total points score.
Please use these record cards for candidates that are certificating in summer 2021 only. You should record all the candidates' data from their whole time of studying Entry Level Science.
You can also download the candidate record cards for 2021 from the Forms finder web page.
Whilst we wait for the consultation decisions, we advise you to continue teaching to the current changes as best you can. It is very important that as much learning as possible continues to prepare candidates for the next stage in their education.
