GCSE Computer Science J277/02 question paper rubric
08 November 2023
Following feedback from teachers and as part of our accessibility principles, we're improving the question paper rubric for GCSE Computer Science J277/02: Computational thinking, algorithms and programming.
At the beginning of each question paper section we'll be adding the following timing guidance:
- Section A: We advise you to spend approximately 50 minutes on Section A
- Section B: We advise you to spend approximately 40 minutes on Section B
We're supporting students by making this small change as it provides a clearer indication of the time they should spend writing responses for each section.
This change applies to assessments taking place from the June 2024 exam series onwards.
Amended sample assessment material (SAM)
To reflect this change to the question paper rubric, we have amended the sample question paper for GCSE Computer Science (J277/02) Computational thinking, algorithms and programming.
You can download the amended version of the sample question paper (version 1.4) from:
- the Assessment > Sample assessment materials section of the GCSE Computer Science qualification page on our website.
