Sample assessment materials updated for GCSE Mathematics J560
27 September 2024
To make it clearer where students should demonstrate their knowledge and skills, from summer 2022, we added the statement ‘You must show your working’ to our live GCSE Mathematics exam questions worth 5 marks or more.
As part of our regular review of assessment materials, we have now updated our sample assessment materials for GCSE Mathematics to reflect our live question papers. For high-mark questions of 5 or more marks we have added the statement ‘You must show your working’, except in cases where the task cannot be completed without working.
You can view and download the updated sample assessment materials from:
- the Assessment > Sample assessment materials section of the GCSE Mathematics qualification page on our website.
- the Assessment > Exams > Sample assessment materials section of Teach Cambridge.
Please note, our guidance to answering these questions has not changed. As detailed in our GCSE Mathematics specification, students should support all of their answers with appropriate working. As outlined in the Exploring our question papers assessment guide and examiners’ reports, we advise you to inform your students they must always read the full question carefully to make sure they understand what they are being asked to do.
