New set products for GCSE Media Studies (J200)
06 July 2023
This subject update was originally published on 28 September 2022. On 5 October 2022, we corrected the following current set products; the TV show 'The Cuffs' is now 'Cuffs' and the TV show Avengers, Season 1, Episode 1, is now Avengers, Season 4, Episode 1.
We have now added a link to the GCSE Media Studies J200 specification (for first teaching September 2023), which includes the set products listed below. You can view and download the specification from Teach Cambridge.
For our GCSE Media Studies (J200) specification, we are replacing some of the set products for first teaching in September 2023 and first assessment in 2025.
Following an internal review and feedback from teachers, we’re introducing set products which are more contemporary, engaging and diverse for students. The changes will also help us to maintain the validity and reliability of our assessments.
These changes are limited to one new TV show, one new episode for the current TV show and two pairs of new music videos. We’ve chosen this level of change to make sure the new set products can be introduced and managed by teachers effectively.
We’ve listed the set product changes below:
