Delay to new set texts for Latin and Classical Greek reminder

In June 2020, we announced that due to the exceptional circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic, we had delayed the introduction of the third cycle of new GCSE, AS and A Level set texts and the GCSE Literature and Culture topics by a year. We took this decision to help support teachers and reduce their workload during a period of unprecedented upheaval.
GCSE Latin J282 and Classical Greek J292
The set texts and topics in the second cycle will continue to be assessed until 2022.
- For GCSE Latin, see page 8 and page 9 of the specifications for details of the set texts and topics which will be examined in 2022.
- For GCSE Classical Greek, see page 8 and page 9 of the specifications for details of the set texts and topics which will be examined in 2022.
AS Level Latin H043 and Classical Greek H044
The set texts in the second cycle will continue to be assessed until 2021.

- For AS Level Classical Greek, see page 8 of the specification for details of the set texts which will be examined in 2021.
A Level Latin H443 and Classical Greek H444
The set texts in the second cycle will continue to be assessed until 2022.
- For A Level Latin, see page 10 and page 12 of the specifications for details of the set texts which will be examined in 2022.
- For A Level Classical Greek, see page 10 and page 12 of the specifications for details of the set texts which will be examined in 2022. As a result, the unseen prose author (Thucydides) and unseen verse author (Sophocles (iambic trimeter)) in the Unseen Translation paper (H444/01) will also continue to be assessed until 2022.
