Replacement Entry Level Certificates

OCR’s Entry Level provision is changing. As part of the government programme of GCSE reform we have redeveloped 25 GCSE (9–1) qualifications for first teach in September 2015 and September 2016. We are also currently developing 8 GCSE (9–1) qualifications for first teach in September 2017. Alongside this, we have a requirement to ensure that our Entry Level provision allows progression to our new GCSE (9–1) qualifications. We have reviewed and redeveloped our Entry Level provision in Art and Design, Computer Science, English, Geography, History, Latin, Mathematics, Physical Education and Science to align with our new GCSE (9–1) qualifications. 

Our new Entry Level Certificates are available from first teach in September 2016 and first assessment in summer 2017. You can find information on all of our new Entry Levels in the Entry Levels (2016 suite) section of the OCR website, including our specifications and information on our assessment materials. 

Our new Entry Level Certificates in Art and Design, Computer Science, English, Geography, Mathematics and Science are also available and eligible for funding in Wales, although not in the medium of Welsh. If you are a maintained sector centre in Wales and you are interested in delivering our new Entry Level Certificates in History, Latin or Physical Education, please contact your subject team, details for whom are available on the relevant subject page. 

We will continue to support and assess our current Entry Level Certificates in Art and Design, Computing, English, Geography, History, Latin, Mathematics, Physical Education and Science up to the conclusion of the final resit series in 2019.

*The new Entry Level Certificate in Art and Design has a variety of material choice and the areas of study available.

The current suite of Entry Level qualifications are still eligible for funding. More information on funding of pre-19 qualifications is available on Section 96 on the Department for Education website (England) and QiW (Wales).
