Supporting you through DfE changes affecting Cambridge Technicals
This article has been updated since its original publication on 8 May 2019.
The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has published the list of qualifications where funding is being withdrawn in England. This includes 24 of our non-examined assessment Level 3 Cambridge Technicals which overlap with our 2016 suite.
The Department for Education (DfE) has announced funding in England, for a number of our Level 3 Cambridge Technicals 2012 suite, will be withdrawn from 1 August 2020. Any students enrolled on these qualifications before 1 August 2020 will still continue to be funded through to completion.
Have a look at our ‘Cambridge Technicals explained’ document for more information on last registration dates. More information about funding changes can be found in our handy FAQ document.
Additional information:
- Level 3 2012 Cambridge Technicals in Art and Design are not affected by the funding announcement and continue to be available as before.
- All externally examined Cambridge Technicals (2016) qualifications are unaffected by the funding change.
- There are no funding changes to any of our Level 2 Cambridge Technicals.
The funding announcement, which is part of a larger review of post-16 vocational qualifications in England, affects qualifications offered by all exam boards.
To support everyone teaching – or considering teaching – 2012 or 2016 Cambridge Technicals, we’re running free ‘Assess your Options’ events this November.
Sessions will include information about making the switch to 2016 Cambridge Technicals, the key differences between non-examined and examined assessment, and the looking at what content is the same and what is different. You can book onto these events now.
At the end of October we are also running a number of subject-specific switching online events:
Finally, if you are considering moving across to 2016 Level 3 Cambridge Technicals, or want to find out more about what is involved, take a look at the subject-specific switching pages on our website:
