Get classroom and assessment-ready with our Starting to Teach support events
Led by an experienced Design Technology teacher, our ‘Starting to Teach’ event for GCSE Design Technology (J310) aims to develop your understanding of key aspects of the qualification. The session will cover specification content, structure, question format and assessment requirements, as well as offering practical guidance on getting started in the classroom. By attending our ‘Starting’ event, you will have opportunities to ask questions, network with others and learn about the other branches of support we offer, empowering you to teach OCR GCSE Design Technology (J310) with confidence.
What
the course aims to do:

To support new centres/ customers in understanding specification and assessment principles, as well as signposting them to relevant support branches. The course will give you a detail overview of both NEA and exam elements of the course.

To inspire and engage the teachers.
How
the course will fulfil those aims:
•
Narrate the ‘Assessment Story’ – high level
•
Guide delegates through the specification and assessment framework (in detail)
•
Explain the structure of both sections A & B of the exam paper and subject focus.
•
Explain the iterative design process OCR uses and the content expected of the NEA
•
Share information on OCR support systems/ direct to generic on-demand ‘Getting Started’ course
•
Share the resources OCR has to support this qualification.
•
Offer an overview of the support and third party resources on offer (and how to access them)
•
Provide a platform for discussing classroom application activities
•
Share the support system OCR has in place to support teachers.
