Get classroom and assessment-ready with our Starting to Teach support events
Led by an experienced Mathematics teacher and examiner plus one of our Subject Advisors, our ‘Starting to Teach’ event for GCSE (9-1) Mathematics (J560) aims to develop your understanding of key aspects of the qualification. The session will cover specification content, structure, question format and assessment requirements, as well as offering practical guidance on getting started in the classroom. The session will also give a detailed overview of GCSE (9-1) Maths mark schemes and marking. By attending our ‘Starting’ event, you will have opportunities to ask questions, network with others and learn about the other branches of support we offer, empowering you to teach our qualification with confidence.
What the course aims to do:
•To support new centres/ customers in understanding specification and assessment principles, as well as signposting them to relevant support.
How the course will fulfil those aims:
•Narrate the ‘Assessment Story’ – high level
•Guide delegates through the specification and assessment (in detail)
•Offer an overview of the support and third party resources on offer (and how to access them)
•Provide a platform for discussing classroom activities
•Give a detailed overview of mark schemes and marking
