About assessing

As one of the major UK exam boards, OCR is responsible for creating and marking exams taken by over a million students each year. We provide GCSEs and A Levels in over 40 subjects and offer over 450 vocational qualifications. We work with over 10,000 professionals to create, check, mark and moderate our assessments.

We use the term assessment specialists to include all the roles involved with creating, marking and moderating our assessments. Assessment specialists make an invaluable contribution to students’ lives as well as being at the core of what we do.

Would you like to join us?

We recruit for the following roles throughout the year:

  • Examiners – responsible for marking our exams and assessments, mainly during the summer series
  • Moderators – responsible for checking coursework to make sure it’s been marked accurately and consistently

We also advertise for other, more senior opportunities which may include developing and producing exam papers, and supervising during the marking series. Visit our current vacancies page and use the search term 'SR' to see any available roles.

Professional Development

As an OCR assessment specialist you also have access to professional development opportunities, including subsidised Cambridge Assessment Network membership, which offers a range of assessment-related courses and awards.
