Assessment for GCSE Computer Science
28 November 2017
A consultation has been launched on the future assessment arrangements for GCSE Computer Science.
Ofqual states that it has seen evidence that exam boards’ rules for non-exam assessment in GCSE computer science are being broken, proving difficult to enforce. It also has wider concerns about the burden being placed on teachers by the non-exam assessment, and how “the nature of the non-exam assessment may be leading to an approach to problem solving that does not reflect real-world programming practices”.
OCR has produced guidance on what the changes in the consultation proposals might mean for schools and colleges.
The deadline for the consultation is 22 December.
