Centres of Excellence of Maths named
04 October 2018
The colleges which will become Centres of Excellence in Maths have been announced.
Centres of Excellence in Maths will be established in 21 post-16 institutions – one in every region of England. The Centres of Excellence programme aims to design new teaching approaches to improve the quality of basic maths provision for low attaining young people over the age of 16 over the next five years.
The Centres will develop high quality teaching resources, build teachers’ skills, and spread best practice through maths networks.
The Centres for Excellence programme is part of the government’s response to the Smith Review of post-16 maths education.
