Youth panel forms shadow curriculum and assessment review
04 December 2024
A team of youth organisations including the Scouts, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, the National Union of Students and the National Youth Agency, has set up an independent, shadow Curriculum and Assessment Review.
The Youth Panel is calling for evidence for the youth-led Shadow Curriculum and Assessment Review. The panel, chaired by the NUS President Amira Campbell, is gathering views from children and young people in England aged 5-19 about their experiences in school and college, aiming to ensure that youth perspectives are included in the government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review. The panel want to hear from young people from different backgrounds and with a wide range of interests and abilities to hear what young people like about education and what they believe needs to change.
The findings will be shared with members of the government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review panel helping to shape what’s taught in schools and colleges, and how students are assessed.
The group is reaching out to youth networks, teachers and parents via a survey (deadline 12 January 2025) to better understand and reflect the priorities of children and young people who can also share views via pictures, videos, voice notes, creative writing or art.
Regional roadshows will follow in Spring 2025, as well as both an interim and final report next year.
