Course end dates and resit information for AS/A Level Home Economics (Food, Nutrition and Health) (H111, H511)
We are currently reforming our AS and A Levels in line with the government programme of general qualification reform. As part of this programme, awarding bodies are not redeveloping AS and A Level qualifications in Home Economics. Information on the DfE’s approach to the topic of food in Level 3 qualifications can be found in their July 2015 subject content consultation (page 16) and in the consultation response document (January 2016) (pages 28-31).
The final assessment opportunity for the current AS/A Level Home Economics (Food, Nutrition and Health) (H111/H511) qualifications will be the June 2018 series with a resit opportunity in June 2019.

For centres looking for a food science pathway, we would recommend Cambridge Technicals in Laboratory Skills in the Foundation Diploma and Diploma size qualifications. Launching for first teaching in September 2016, our Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in Laboratory Skills offers specialist pathways in food science, environmental science and human science. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, this qualification focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand.
Alternatively, centres may wish to look on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications for information on Level 3 general and vocational qualifications in food-related subjects.
