Proposal for adapting Entry Level Qualifications for 2021
We recently informed you of the adaptations for our 2021 GCSE and A Level qualifications. We are now liaising with our regulator Ofqual about adapting our vocational and technical qualifications.
The adaptation proposal includes our 2020/21 Entry Level qualifications, for those students certificating in summer 2021.
This applies to the following qualifications:
We will provide further information and support on the adaptations as soon as we can. Please be assured that we know this is a difficult time for schools and colleges and you need clarity. Thank you for your patience.
There is no adaptation planned for our Entry Level qualifications in Latin, Maths, English and History for 2020/21. Please continue to deliver these qualification as per the specifications.
Entry Level qualifications are important to us. However, there has been a different process for adapting Entry Level qualifications to that for GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications. Whereas the changes to GCSEs, AS and A Levels were set out by Ofqual in its consultation outcomes at the beginning of August, our Entry Level qualifications have been dealt with as part of the Vocational and Technical Qualifications (VTQ) group. The consultation outcomes and process for making adaptations to our VTQs was communicated to exam boards in late August. This means updates for VTQs and other qualifications, such as Entry Level, are running to a slightly later timeline than for our GCSEs and A Levels qualifications.
