A Level Sciences practical endorsement monitoring
24 September 2019
The third cycle of monitoring visits for the Practical Endorsement will start in the 2019 autumn term, and run until the summer term of 2021.
As a minimum, your centre should expect to be monitored for the science subject that we did not monitor in the previous cycles. The monitoring visits will follow the same procedures as the 2017 to 2019 cycle and large centres will continue to be monitored for biology, chemistry and physics. A large centre is defined as one which has more than 140 entries at A level for either biology, chemistry or physics.
Awarding organisations will jointly plan monitoring visits for the next cycle using information about centre entries for A levels in biology, chemistry and physics from the summer 2019 series. It is the responsibility of a centre that is new, is switching exam boards, or only offers one or two science A levels to let the awarding organisations know so an appropriate visit can be scheduled.
The full cross-board communication contains important, detailed information for centres’ science departments about the practical endorsement monitoring process, as well as details relating to the monitoring for A Level Geology.
