New set products for AS and A Level Media Studies (H009/H409)
06 July 2023
This subject update was originally published on 10 November 2022. On 17 November 2022, we added a link to our Media Studies set products web page.
We have now added a link to the AS Level specification and A Level specification (both for first teaching September 2023), which include the set products listed below. You can view and download the specifications from Teach Cambridge.
For our AS and A Level Media Studies specifications (H009/H409), we are replacing some of the set products for first teaching in September 2023 and first assessment in 2025 (2024 for AS Level).
Following an internal review and feedback from teachers, we’re introducing set products which are more contemporary, engaging and diverse for students. The changes will also help us to maintain the validity and reliability of our assessments.

We value the feedback we receive about teaching support, so to make sure teachers are supported in teaching these new set products we’ll be providing up-to-date support material before first teaching begins.
You can view a summary of the Media Studies changes and further resources to support you on our Media Studies set products web page.
We have updated our AS Level specification and A Level specification (both for first teaching September 2023) to include the changes and how to access the set media products. You can view and download these specifications from Teach Cambridge.
