Updates for Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing J837
23 July 2022
This subject update was originally published on 14 July. We've now updated the marking criteria for Task 6 of the R068 sample assessment material. Please make sure you're using the latest version (version 3: August 2022), which you can download and view from the Assessment section of the Enterprise and Marketing qualification page.
Specification update
We've updated the specification for the refreshed Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing (J837) qualification to Version 2. Please make sure you are using the latest version.
The updated specification includes more about the resubmission of centre assessed (NEA) units and we’ve updated the administration arrangements.
Please refer to page 2 of the specification for more details on what has changed.
You can view and download the specification from the Enterprise and Marketing qualification page.
Assessment guidance for centre assessed units R068 and R069
We've also updated the assessment guidance for both centre assessed (NEA) units R068 and R069 to clarify the requirements and make it easier for you to understand what your candidates need to do. We've updated the sample assessment materials (SAMs) and the R068 OCR-set assignment to reflect these changes.
Based on your feedback, we’ve worked with Ofqual on a way to allow both R068 and R069 to be completed and submitted in the same academic year, giving you the flexibility to teach and assess the units in the way that works best for you:
Unit R068: Design a business proposal
- the marking criteria grid for R068 has been amended to make the grading criteria more explicit and to add clarity to mark bands
- we've updated the OCR-set assignment for January and June 2023 to reflect these changes – if you've already downloaded a copy, please download this again from Teach Cambridge.
Unit R069: Market and pitch a business proposal
- the marking criteria grid for R069 has been amended to make the grading criteria more explicit and to add clarity to mark bands
- the OCR-set assignment for R069 will not be replaced each year
- the assignment for R069 will not specify a product. Students will still need to base R069 on the business proposal they have developed from the R068 assignment they have completed
- centres can now submit both centre-assessed (NEA) units in the same year or continue to submit R068 in the first year and R069 in the second year of the course, as long as both assignments are based on the same business proposal.
As these changes to the specification will allow you to submit R069 in the first year of the course, we'll be releasing the set assignment for R069 on 1 September 2022 on Teach Cambridge.
