Withdrawal of the Level 1/2 Cambridge National Award in Business (J804) and Cambridge National Certificate in Business and Enterprise (J814)

Following a review of qualifications, and centre feedback we have received, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the above qualifications, with the intention to provide a replacement qualification for first teaching from September 2017. We will, of course, continue to support and assess these qualifications up to the conclusion of the final assessment series:

The qualifications detailed will be included on key stage 4 performance tables until 2018. As the qualifications are designed for delivery over a two year period, the last opportunity for year 10s to start a 2 year programme will be September 2016.

Our intention is to submit the revised qualification for inclusion in the 2019 performance tables. As such, the revised qualification will be designed to meet the Department for Education's (DfE) guidance for Technical Awards for 14-16 year olds. We are currently consulting with centres regarding the replacement qualification to ensure that what we develop is current, engaging, truly vocational in content, and appropriate for both centres and learners. Regular updates regarding the new qualification will be provided and necessary documentation (e.g. centre handbook, sample assessment materials) will be available on the OCR website in Summer 2016.
