Updated teaching content for Unit 01 of our Cambridge Technical IT (2016)
We have updated Unit 1 of our Cambridge Technical in IT (2016 suite) qualifications.
This action has been taken to ensure teachers are aware of the breadth and depth of teaching required to ensure learners reach the level of understanding expected for this Level 3 qualification. Expectations relating to breadth and depth are contained in the performance descriptors that accompany this qualification in Appendix A of the Centre Handbook.
The changes we have made clarify the:
- Meaning of acronyms which could have more than one common definition
- Scope of the content to indicate what must be taught. For example, under 1.2 memory, learners must learn about ROM, RAM and cache, not just some of these. As this is part of a Learning Outcome that requires understanding, learners must also be able to answer a question ranging from an identification to an evaluation. Any content that follows an i.e. must be taught.
To support your candidates’ preparation for the external assessment, please refer to the specimen assessment material (SAM) as well as the bespoke OCR resources available for this unit, all of which can be found on the qualification page of our website.
The updated unit is now available on the qualification pages of our website. Please ensure you are using the latest version of Unit 1.
