Guidance on awarding spelling, punctuation and grammar for GCSE Ancient History

We have updated the sample assessment material for GCSE Ancient History J198 (01/02) to include guidance on how we award spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) for scribed scripts.

You can view the guidance titled, ‘Awarding Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar to scripts with a coversheet’, on the last page of the sample assessment material for each component:

• J198/01 Greece and Persia
• J198/02 Rome and its neighbours

We've provided this guidance to clarify how SPaG marks are awarded in this subject which will be reflected in the GCSE Ancient History mark schemes for future series.
