Updates for GCSE Geography A and B
29 March 2022
We've made some updates for GCSE Geography A (J383) and GCSE Geography B (J384).
Changes for 2022
In the Understanding the changes to the exam papers section of our Changes for 2022 web pages for GCSE Geography A and B, we've added the following clarification for Component 03:
For GCSE Geography (A and B) in Component 03, the questions will not draw content from the optional themes/topics. If students choose to include information in their answers from the optional theme(s)/topics(s), then they would be credited for this, if it’s relevant to the question. The nature of the component means that students can and do include a wide variety of theme/topic information and they would still be able to take this approach and be credited for it.

Mark scheme for GCSE Geography B (J384)
For the Autumn 2021 mark scheme component J384/02: People and society, we've updated the following:
- For question 1(c), we've changed the assessment objective from AO2 to AO3 – this question is assessing AO1 (knowledge) and AO3 (evaluation).
- For question 2(d), we've corrected the wording ‘LIDC countries’ to ‘LIDC’s’.
You can view and download the updated mark scheme, Geography B - MS (Nov21), on Interchange.
