Amended specification for GCSE History B (J411)
12 January 2024
As part of an on-going review of our History qualifications, we are changing the terminology used in our specification for GCSE History B (Schools History Project) – J411.
- In section 2C, ‘The Making of America’ (page 21), we've replaced the term ‘Plains Indians’ with ‘Native Americans of the Plains’.
All other content remains the same.
This change enables us to have a more consistent approach to question setting and removes outdated terminology in line with published textbooks.
Students using the term ‘Plains Indians’ in GCSE History assessments will still be credited.
You can view and download our amended specification (version 1.6) from the GCSE History B qualification page on our website and on Teach Cambridge.
Please make sure you’re using the latest version of our specification with your students.
If you have any queries about this update, please contact the History Subject Team on 01223 553998 or email history@ocr.org.uk.
