A Level Sciences practical endorsement monitoring visits
31 January 2019
We’re coming towards the end of the second cycle of Practical Endorsement monitoring visits for A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics qualifications. The majority of centres should now have received their monitoring visit.
If your centre has not yet received a visit, and a visit has not yet been scheduled by OCR or one of the other awarding bodies, please let us know.
Monitoring visits take place in two-year cycles. This summer marks the end of the 2017–2019 monitoring cycle. Centres receive a visit for a single science subject in each cycle. If you have more than 140 students taking any of the A Level sciences then you should have received a visit for all science subjects. If your centre is offering A Level Geology, you also need to have received a separate monitoring visit.
If you have not let us know you are teaching any of our A Level science qualifications and your centre is making A Level entries this year, please get in touch now.
If we identify that a centre requires a visit following the entry deadline (21 February 2019), that centre will be considered high risk, and will require monitoring visits for all three sciences. This may involve more than one awarding organisation depending on the specifications being used.
