Withdrawal of Level 2 Award in Thinking and Reasoning Skills (J930) (QAN 500/5687/6)
OCR’s Level 2 Award in Thinking and Reasoning Skills J930 (QAN 500/5687/6) is being withdrawn from 31 August 2018. We have taken the difficult decision to withdraw this qualification following government reform which means it will not be included in performance tables from 2017 onwards.
Please note: the final assessment opportunity for this qualification will be summer 2018 and there will not be a January series in 2018.
From 2016 the availability of assessment opportunities will be as follows:
Series
| Units available
| Retake or first assessment?
|
Summer 2016
| B901 and B902
| Both
|
January 2017
| B901 and B902 | Both
|
Summer 2017
| B901 and B902 | Both
|
Summer 2018
| B901 and B902 | Both
|
We will continue to support and assess the qualification up to the conclusion of the final assessment series with resources such as examiner reports. We realise the withdrawal of Level 2 Award in Thinking and Reasoning Skills may be disappointing news for centres who currently offer this qualification. However, a number of qualifications draw on thinking and reasoning skills at level 2, such as the Higher Project H855, which demands students use critical thinking and evaluation skills to produce an independent piece of research.
For further information on deadlines for submitting entries, entry amendments/withdrawals and the submission of marks for internal assessment please see the Admin Guide: 14–19 Qualifications 2015/16.
