A spotlight on lesser-taught texts: Private Lives by Noel Coward
02 November 2016
We are keen to support all of our teachers but would especially like to hear from those who have chosen to deliver one of our lesser-taught texts, such as Private Lives or That Face, as an alternative to the ever popular A Streetcar Named Desire. Of course, there is nothing wrong with Streetcar; it is the most popular play on our AS set text list for a reason, but we would like to encourage variety and challenge. Plus, Private Lives is absolutely hilarious and a real testament to Coward’s quick-fire wit.
The Noël Coward Room, located in the heart of London, provides a wealth of resources for teachers and students studying 20th Century Drama and Literature. It is a rich repository of theatre history, and an informative and illuminating place to explore the range of Noël Coward’s professional and personal worlds.
