OCR Bursary Scheme 2023 now open 20 February 2023

Applications are now open for OCR’s bursary scheme. If you live in the West Midlands and have been offered a place on a full-time undergraduate degree course at Cambridge University starting this autumn, you have until the application deadline of Tuesday 2 May 2023 to apply.

Celebrating its 20th year, OCR’s bursary scheme is open to students who are completing their sixth form studies at schools and colleges across the West Midlands*. Each year the scheme offers around ten bursaries, worth £3000 per year for the lifetime of the students’ undergraduate studies. The money can be used for living costs or college fees, or for a combination of both.

The award fund comes from OCR’s historical association with the West Midlands Examinations Board, and previous years have seen talented recipients studying a range of different subjects benefiting from this extra support.

In 2022, 15 students made successful applications. Last month, OCR staff were delighted to welcome them and other current bursary recipients to an afternoon of tea and cakes. Take a look at what they said to find out how the OCR bursary is making a big difference.

Chris Powley, OCR Director, said: “We’re proud to be able to support students from the West Midlands, enabling them to make the most of the opportunity that Cambridge offers with less financial pressure. It’s always a privilege to meet our bursary recipients. They are impressive and wonderfully talented young people.”

For more information and an application form, take a look at the bursary webpage.

*The scheme is open to students studying in schools and colleges in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Herefordshire, Sandwell, Shropshire, Solihull, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wolverhampton and Worcestershire Local Education Authorities.
