Update on the formulae sheet for Level 3 FSMQ: Additional Maths assessments in 2022
10 November 2021
In the summer 2022 Level 3 FSMQ: Additional Mathematics (6993) exam, students will be given an extra formulae sheet alongside their question paper. This is one of the changes to 2022 assessments to support students.
The formulae that will be provided on this extra formulae sheet are listed below. These are the same formulae as will be on the formulae sheet provided to Higher tier students in the 2022 GCSE (9–1) Maths exams.
- area of a trapezium
- volume of a prism
- circumference of a circle
- area of a circle
- quadratic formula
- Pythagoras’ theorem
- trigonometry formulae (sin, cos, tan)
- sine rule
- cosine rule
- area of triangle = ½ab sinC
- compound interest
- P(A or B)
- P(A and B)
Please note that the formulae that are provided as standard at the front of the question paper (i.e. expansion of the binomial series, binomial distribution, trapezium rule and the kinematics formulae for variable and constant acceleration) will still be provided at the front of the question paper. This means you can use our practice papers and past papers, with the extra formulae sheet, to give students a mock exam consistent with the question paper approach to be used in 2022.
The formulae sheet has been published as a pdf file on the Level 3 FSMQ: Additional Maths qualification page, so teachers can begin familiarising and preparing students with it now.
Students will get a clean printed copy in each exam.
As well as formulae sheets, we will also be providing advance information on the focus of content of the Level 3 FSMQ: Additional Maths exam in 2022, to support student revision. This advance information will be released to centres by 7 February 2022.
