Following OCR being chosen by the Ministry of Justice to provide ICT qualifications to adult learners in England's prisons from August 2018, David Savidge and Natalie Jenkins, our Heads of Strategic Consortia, have drafted a letter to all Education Managers. Please make sure you read the letter carefully and carry out the necessary tasks.
Chosen by the Ministry of Justice to provide ICT qualifications to adult learners in England's prisons from August 2018, a full list of the available qualifications has been produced.
We have always provided a great range of qualifications and our offer to the Offender Learning sector is no different.
OCR's vision is that offenders, both in prison and supervised in the community, should be able to access learning. This will enable them to gain the skills and qualifications that will help them step into future education, training and employment. By enabling the recognition of the necessary and desired skills, we effectively support the sector with a positive contribution to reducing the risk of re-offending.
OCR are offering a solution to enable your learners to access the assessment for Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills. Our solution means learners will be able to conduct a search using a simulated search engine and send an email, without needing access to the internet. These two tasks are included in the assessment criteria for the qualifications.
To offer OCR on-screen tests, you need to become approved and then we can set you up to use the on-screen test system, Surpass.
If you aren't an approved centre already, or need to add Functional Skills to your list of approved qualifications, please complete the vocational qualification approval form. Once approved for Functional Skills, you need to complete the short Sign up for on-screen tests form.
