The good news is that Cambridge Technicals can be a great stepping stone to higher education and many universities are happy to accept students with vocational qualifications.
Here are some helpful suggestions on choosing your university place:
- Make sure your proposed degree subject is a good match for your qualification. Use your personal statement to show how your studies relate to your choice of degree.
- Don’t rely on a single university; popular degrees can be oversubscribed.
- Cambridge Technicals have UCAS tariff points and the UCAS website is a useful place to check the points value of your qualification. You can also find out which universities offer the degrees you are thinking about, and lots more general information on your options.
- Check the ‘entry requirements’ for your course on the university’s website, often found on the same page as the degree information page. Not all universities list Cambridge Technicals in their entry requirements but many will consider applications from students with vocational qualifications. If they mention BTECs, they are likely to accept Level 3 Cambridge Technicals.
- If the information is unclear, try contacting the admissions office directly with details of your qualification and course. There’s usually a separate email and phone number for admissions.
If it’s still not clear that the university you are interested in accepts your Cambridge Technicals, then contact us and explain the situation. Tells us which university you are contacting, what they have told you and most importantly, who you spoke to. We’ll do our best to help secure your university place.
Good luck, we wish you every success for your future.
