Where a student has been affected by circumstances beyond their control it may, in exceptional cases, be possible to grant a short extension to the mark submission deadline.
An extension allows teachers to submit students’ marks later than the original deadline for any series. Typically, an extension of 5 to 10 days can be given, depending on the situation.
You can request an extension when a students’ ability to complete coursework has been impacted by unforeseen circumstances. Reasons might include short-term illness and family emergencies.
Extensions are not automatically granted, and it is important to make sure you can provide evidence to support the request.
To request an extension, you need to make a request via Special Consideration Online, which is accessed via Interchange:
If the whole cohort has an approved extension, please submit your marks via Interchange or A2C by the agreed extension deadline. For details on how to submit your marks, please see our webpage.
If individual students have an approved extension:
Remember: It’s important you submit your marks by the agreed deadlines – not submitting marks by the deadline puts students at risk of not receiving their results on results day and may prompt a malpractice investigation.
Please see our blog explaining the options available to support you and your students when completing NEA.
