Basedata is examination data which is used to process entries and results using EDI files. Designed to be electronically imported into a centre’s administration software, it includes the specification codes, entry codes, timetables and fees.
Basedata is series-specific and needs to be uploaded for each new series.
More information about basedata can be found in the JCQ booklet Formats for the Exchange of Examination Related Data.
For a summary of the administration of Cambridge Nationals, please refer to the admin overview. You can also use our handy flow chart which summarises Cambridge Nationals entry information, including downloading basedata, and also provides hints and tips of what to watch out for.
Need help with refreshing your basedata? ESS SIMS have put together a video to show you how.
Please make sure you’re using the latest version of basedata.
The discount codes included in our basedata (within the option file) are taken directly from the DfE and are subject to change. We will not re-issue the option file with any updates to the discount codes from the DfE, so these will need to be manually amended within your management information system (MIS). For help with this, please speak to your MIS provider.
We provide basedata from the last year for centres to import into their management information systems. If you require basedata from previous years, please contact us.
