This section applies to centre-assessed work only, including the GCSE English Language spoken language endorsement.

It is not relevant for the A Level Science practical endorsements.

Where candidates from different centres have been taught and assessed together, you need to let us know you need to be treated as a consortium so we can moderate the candidates as one group.

Each centre within the consortium makes their own entries, submits marks/grades for the centre-assessed work and receives results.

There will be a lead centre who delivers the assessment programme for the consortium.

To tell us about your consortium: 

1. Nominate a consortium co-ordinator to liaise with us on behalf of your consortium. 
2. Complete the centre consortium arrangements form within the JCQ Centre Admin Portal (CAP) – from the Forms section, select Centre consortium arrangements. You can access the JCQ Centre Admin Portal from Interchange.
3. You need to complete a separate form each series by the following deadlines:

November	1 October
January	31 October
June series	31 January

Once the form has been submitted by the co-ordinator, we will contact each centre individually to confirm their membership of the consortium. 

The consortium co-ordinator must make sure internal standardisation is carried out across the whole consortium. 

Sample requests will be sent to each entering centre. The consortium co-ordinator will be sent the details of the combined sample, showing which candidates are being selected from each centre.

For postal moderation, we recommend the consortium co-ordinator collates the samples from each centre to send to the moderator together. 

For visiting moderation, we recommend the consortium co-ordinator arranges for the work or students to be in one location. Alternatively, they should plan for the moderator to travel between centres. Final arrangements should be made directly between the consortium co-ordinator and the moderator.

We will make sure candidates from each specification are treated as a single group for moderation.

Moderators will return all candidate work to the lead centre.

Moderator reports will be produced for the whole consortium. These will be available to download by each member of the consortium from Interchange (see our results report page).

A few exceptions are issued in hard copy.

Reviews of moderation must be submitted by the lead centre on behalf of the whole consortium (see the review of moderation page).
