Vocational subject panels

OCR formally recognises the following centres for their continued support and contributions to its vocational insight subject expert panels for Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals. This group provides teaching, learning and assessment insight in helping to ensure the OCR vocational qualifications are appropriately maintained from a quality and customer perspective.

There are currently five subject groups. Expand each one to find out more about each panel.

Business
- It has been beneficial for our centre to be part of the vocational subject panel for business as it has allowed me to feedback both positive points related to the courses, we offer alongside areas for development based on comments from both students and teaching staff at our centre. I have been pleased to see that where concerns have been raised these have been discussed at the vocational expert panel meetings and this has offered reassurance that other centres are facing similar challenges to us. Concerns have been acknowledged and followed up. I would recommend centres to be part of the vocational subject panel. Most definitely a worthwhile experience."

- We have found that we have been able to moderate students' work with other schools and teachers. This has helped us clarify any questions we have regarding the units and tasks set.”

This collaboration has enriched our curriculum planning and delivery, ensuring our teaching remains aligned with both industry expectations and the latest educational standards, to the benefit of both our staff and students."
  
  Being part of the digital media subject panel has been a really helpful part of CPD in listening to how other leading practitioners approach the course and having the opportunity to raise issues with experts. What I have learned has been invaluable in seeing that the course allows for a myriad of approaches that support innovative approaches to teaching and amazing outcomes for learners. Health and social care
- As the only health and social care teacher at my organisation I have really appreciated the support and expertise from colleagues by collaborating and sharing information to improve delivery at my centre.”

Sport
- I found it very beneficial being part of the working party. It was particularly useful talking through the course and how people have found delivering the course. The real positive was having someone from OCR within the group who could answer specific questions but also take our points that were raised to OCR to look at when developing the course.”
  
  Being part of the OCR vocational subject panel has given me and our centre a really good insight into the inner workings of the level three course we offer to our students. This has allowed us to understand them better providing even more insight and support to our students. The courses our faculty offer, and the success we have had, has allowed our cohort sizes to grow making of faculty a significant contributor to our sixth for intake. It has also provided an invaluable time and space to share ideas and discuss various topics that have contributed to our growth. Having this point of contact has made a significant difference to our centre.”
  
  Being part of the subject expert group for sport has enabled the opportunity to discuss the issues facing the delivery of sport qualifications and to work alongside OCR to suggest strategies to overcome them. It has also given a platform for the discussion of educational reforms and how this will impact the centres delivering the qualifications.”
  
  This is an excellent opportunity to share and liaise with other experts around the country to discuss the current state and barriers we face as teachers who see first and the student experiences in the course. I can see the start of us making real change to support other centres that deliver this course”.
