If you’ve lost your OCR certificate, you can apply online for a replacement or a certifying statement. You’ll need to complete the application form online. We will then search for your records and send you:
- A replacement certificate – for vocational qualifications, such as NVQs.
- A certifying statement of results – for general qualifications, such as GCSEs or A Levels. This is an official copy of the final examination results held by us.
- The standard fee for this service is £60.00 per exam series.
- If your result was achieved during or after the year 2000, you can request your application to be fast tracked for an additional fee of £20.00 plus postage.
- Payment for this service is by debit or credit card and you pre-authorise this amount on your card when you apply online. We do not charge your card until we have completed a search for your results.
- If we hold your records, they will be sent by First Class Royal Mail to UK addresses or by tracked mail for an additional fee. For overseas addresses, we use courier delivery. Fees for this service are outlined within the application.
- We are unable to provide results over the telephone or by email.
Take a look at the FAQs at the bottom of the page for further guidance.
OCR holds historical records for a number of examination boards, a list of which can be found on the www.gov.uk website. If you're not sure which exam board your exams were taken with, please contact your school or college for advice.
If you’re not sure who holds your certificate of secondary education (CSE) records, take a look at this document:
Step 1: Provide identification
Before you start your online application, you need to prepare your identification:
- We require identification which shows your current name and date of birth. Acceptable forms of identification are scanned copies of your birth certificate, the photo page of your passport or identity card or your photo driving licence.
- If your name has changed since you sat your exams, you must also provide a scanned copy of your marriage certificate or deed poll.
Step 2: Complete the online application
Make sure you complete all mandatory fields marked with an asterisk. These include:
- Your name and contact details – You will need to provide your current name and your name at the time you took your examination. You have the option to specify a separate delivery address(es) at the end of the application.
- The name and full address of your school/college at the time you took your exams – If the school/college changed its name or merged with another centre while you were attending it, note this in your application. You don’t need to say if it changed its name after you left as we hold separate records for each year.
- The year and month you took your exam(s) – If you would like us to search for exam results from different years, include all of these within your application (there is a charge for each series/year we search). If you’re not sure which year you completed a vocational qualification, please contact your centre. If you’re not sure which year you took your GCSEs, O Levels or A Levels, the following document may help:
Step 3: Fees and payment
Payment for this service must be made by credit or debit card.
- The fee for replacement certificates and certifying statements of results is £60.00 per series (a series is a set of exams taken in the same period, such as all your GCSEs taken in one summer or winter sitting).
- You will receive an immediate email confirmation to say we have received your online application. Check your spam folder if you don't receive this.
- If you submit an application and we are unable to find any results for you, we will refund 50% of the fee charged.
I did not receive an original certificate at the time
We recommend you contact the exams officer at your school or college to see if they have the original certificate. Schools and colleges are required to retain certificates for a period of 12 months after they are issued.
I am only looking for particular subjects
For general qualifications, such as GCSEs, we are required to show all passing grades obtained with our board in a given series on the certifying statement of results. This is to make sure the documents we issue accurately reflect the information which would have appeared on the original certificate.
I want to check if my exams are equivalent to the current examinations or acceptable for international qualifications
For advice on the equivalency of UK qualifications, please visit the Ofqual website.
For advice on the equivalency of international qualifications, please contact UK NARIC the National Agency responsible for providing information on vocational, academic and professional skills and qualifications.
My name has changed since I received my certificate and I would like this updated
Certificates must reflect the legal name of the candidate at the time of the award. We can correct misspelt names or incorrect dates of birth but cannot issue in different names if the change occurred after the date of award. The only exception is candidates who need replacement certificates as a result of gender reassignment.
